J.K. Rowling announces that she is writing a "futuristic" novel

J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series, published a post on one of the social networks in which she shared her creative plans. The British writer said that her current priority is finishing the Cormoran Strike detective series, which she publishes under Robert Galbraith’s pseudonym. However, in parallel, Rowling is working on another notable literary project.

Rowling was asked whether she was planning to write a book about a “space odyssey,” to which the writer replied:

“There are three different books that I can take on after Strike. I have already started writing all of them because I am a crazy workaholic. The book I plan to finish first is a futuristic novel, but it’s not a space odyssey, sorry. It will definitely be set on Earth.”

Rowling’s next book will be the eighth in the “Strike” series. The novel will be published under the title The Hallmarked Man. In May, in an interview with The Times of London, the writer said she would write two more books about Cormoran Strike. This character is a war veteran who becomes a private detective. “Strike was adapted into a BBC/HBO series. The sixth season was filmed this year.

As a reminder, HBO and Max are preparing a series based on the Harry Potter books, which is expected to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
