The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has decided to sell his 127-meter Dutch sailing yacht, Koru, valued at $500 million, according to Page Six. This vessel is one of the largest in the world, featuring a glass-bottomed pool, three jacuzzis, and a water cannon system to deter pirates. The yacht accommodates 18 guests and a crew of 36, and its prow figurehead resembles a mermaid inspired by Lauren Sanchez.
In addition to the main yacht, the ownership includes a support vessel, Abeona, valued at approximately $75 million, which facilitates helicopter transport due to the Koru’s structural design. Maintaining both vessels costs at least $30 million per year.
The primary reason for the sale is the yacht’s size. Bezos, whose fortune is estimated at about $283 billion, encountered issues accessing the most prestigious marinas and secluded lagoons due to the vessel’s dimensions. Consequently, the Koru often faced logistical challenges. For instance, during the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, the yacht was denied docking privileges. Similarly, during Bezos’ wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Venice, the yacht was unable to approach the lagoon. A comparable scenario occurred in Florida, where the vessel was stationed among container ships and oil tankers.
