British Monarch King Charles III, accompanied by Queen Camilla, conducted their first official visit to the United States of America as reigning sovereigns. During their trip, they met with US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, who hosted an official reception at the White House. The visit commemorated the 250th anniversary of America’s independence from Great Britain.
The itinerary included an intimate tea gathering in the Green Room, a walk through the residence gardens, and a formal dinner in the East Room. For their initial meeting, Queen Camilla chose a white midi dress by Anna Valentine adorned with a brooch featuring the emblems of the British and American flags, an accessory previously belonging to Queen Elizabeth II. US First Lady Melania Trump wore an Adam Lippes softly yellow-hued suit for the initial part of the visit and later changed into a Ralph Lauren white suit complemented by an Eric Javits boater hat.
In the evening, Queen Camilla opted for a bespoke fuchsia gown by Fiona Clare, accessorized with a 200-year-old amethyst-and-diamond necklace once worn by Queens Victoria and Elizabeth II. Melania Trump appeared in a pink Dior Haute Couture gown, paired with cream suede gloves.
Among those invited were prominent figures from the political and business elite, including Ivanka Trump with her husband, Jared Kushner, and former Apple CEO Tim Cook. The meetings and visits strengthened bilateral relations between Great Britain and the United States in light of this significant historical occasion.
