On the eve of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, the museum announced the theme. The exhibition will focus on the role of clothing and style in shaping the identity of black men.
The exhibition is inspired by the book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
This is the first Costume Institute exhibition since 2003 to focus exclusively on men’s fashion. Andrew Bolton will curate it and showcase pieces that embody the style of “black men in the context of dandyism from the 18th century to the present day.”
In addition, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the names of the co-chairs of the Met Gala 2025. Pharrell Williams, Coleman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour are among them. At the same time, LeBron James will act as an honorary co-chair.
The theme of this year’s charity event is The Garden of Time, inspired by James Ballard’s story of the same name.
