Microsoft has become the world’s most valuable company again, surpassing Apple in market capitalization. Its figure reached $2.64 trillion, while Apple stopped at $2.59 trillion after a 23% four-day drop, as reported by CNBC.
Tariffs hit Apple
The latest tariffs imposed by Donald Trump hit Apple hardest because of its dependence on suppliers from China. The Nasdaq index has dropped by 13% in four sessions, and UBS analysts warn that the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the US could soar by $350 due to new trade barriers.
Microsoft’s resilience
Microsoft, on the other hand, demonstrates relative strength. Although the company gave a weak outlook in January, Jefferies considers it one of the least vulnerable to tariff instability. This is not the first time it has topped the ranking – in early 2024, Microsoft was at the top, but Apple quickly regained the lead.
Changes amid the crisis
Not long ago, the top three leaders – Apple, Microsoft, and NVIDIA – exceeded $3 trillion in capitalization. However, the market downturn has changed everything. Now, Microsoft is pulling ahead while Apple retreats under the trade war pressure.
