The National Geographic Channel is releasing a new documentary series, “From Pole to Pole with Will Smith”. The project tells the story of the Hollywood actor’s large-scale journey across all seven continents over 100 days.
The series consists of seven episodes and combines expedition routes, physical challenges, and scientific research. In each episode, Smith visits remote and inaccessible regions of the planet, showcasing both well-known natural locations and rarely visited places. At the same time, the project’s authors pay attention to new scientific discoveries and the lives of communities that often remain out of the public eye.
According to the creators, the series is not only a travel diary but also an attempt to comprehend broader topics. Along the way, Will Smith communicates with local community leaders, scientists, and researchers, striving, as he says, “to explore the big questions of life.”

Over the course of 100 days, Smith takes part in a series of extreme tasks, including a ski trip to the South Pole, diving under the ice of the North Pole, climbing mountains, working in the jungle, and interacting with dangerous animals.
A separate part of the series is dedicated to communicating with indigenous peoples and local communities. The project shows, in particular, the life of the Waorani community in the Amazon and the San people in the Kalahari Desert. According to the authors, these stories should demonstrate how the knowledge and endurance of such communities can be necessary, crucial to humanity’s future.
The project “From Pole to Pole with Will Smith” was announced back in February 2022, but its release was postponed. The series is the actor’s third collaboration with National Geographic, following the documentaries “Welcome to Earth” and “One Strange Rock.”
The series premiered on January 13. New episodes will be released weekly, with the finale scheduled for early February.
