Nominees for the 46th Golden Raspberry Awards announced

The organizers of the 46th Golden Raspberry Awards have announced the list of nominees, which are traditionally awarded to the weakest works in the film industry, according to critics. The list was announced on the eve of the Oscar nominations.

Two films received six nominations across different categories, becoming the main favorites at the Golden Raspberry Awards.

One of the leaders was the new film adaptation of H.G. Wells’ novel “War of the Worlds,” produced by Amazon Studios and starring Ice Cube. The film elicited a sharply negative reaction from critics, who characterized it as an unsuccessful adaptation that, in their words, “insults the legacy of the author of the original”.

The live-action version of “Snow White” from Disney Studios received the same number of nominations. The film was nominated for worst film of the year, worst remake, and worst director. Separately, the jury of the anti-award nominated the category of “worst screen combo”, which included all seven dwarfs.

Singer Abel Tesfaye, known by his stage name The Weeknd, received a nomination as worst actor for his solo project “Hurry Up to Tomorrow”. In addition, the organizers ironically added him to the category of “worst screen combo” – along with his, as stated in the description, “his own colossal ego”.

The list of nominees also included world-class stars. In particular, Jared Leto – for his role in the film “Tron: Ares”, Michelle Yeoh – for participation in the project “Star Trek: Section 31”, as well as Natalie Portman – for the film “Fountain of Youth”.

A separate nomination for worst on-screen duo went to Robert De Niro for his work in the film “Smart Guys.”

The names of the “winners” of the anti-award will be announced on March 14, the day before the Oscars. The traditional award will be a plastic raspberry, symbolically valued at five dollars.
