Nvidia to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI

Nvidia shares hit a new all-time high

American chipmaker Nvidia Corp. intends to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI, the developer of the ChatGPT chatbot. On Monday, the companies signed a corresponding agreement of intent for strategic cooperation, Nvidia said in a press release.

The partnership involves the deployment of Nvidia systems for OpenAI’s next-generation AI infrastructure with a total power consumption of at least 10 GW. These systems will be used to train and operate artificial intelligence models as part of the company’s effort to create the so-called “strong AI.”

Such infrastructure will include data centers and generating capacity.

The first phase of the joint project is expected to be operational in the second half of 2026 on the Vera Rubin platform.
