In the Top 100 City Destinations for 2024, Paris retained the title of the most attractive city in the world. Madrid and Tokyo are also among the top three.
The annual ranking from Euromonitor International reports on the world’s best city results in tourism, sustainable development, and economic efficiency.
Europe dominates the ranking, with six cities in the top ten. Madrid is ranked second, Rome and Milan are fourth and fifth, Amsterdam is seventh, and Barcelona is tenth. London, which closed the top ten last year, was only ranked 13th, between Seoul at 12th and Dubai at 14th. At the same time, London is second only to Paris regarding the best tourist infrastructure, but inferior in terms of tourism policy, health and safety, and sustainability.
The Asia-Pacific region also demonstrated high positions: Tokyo ranks third, Sydney eighth, and Singapore ninth. The Japanese yen hit a record low against major currencies in 2024, making it an attractive proposition worldwide for business and leisure travelers.
New York was the only US city in the top ten, ranking sixth. Meanwhile, Los Angeles ranked 18th.

Bangkok was recognized as the best city regarding tourism policy attractiveness and the number of international arrivals. During the year, the city welcomed 32.4 million tourists.
In general, Euromonitor International notes several trends in 2024: tourist destinations have simplified their visa procedures and expanded short-term visa-free entry. At the same time, excessive tourism has become a global problem. The most prominent tourist cities are introducing tourism-related taxes and restrictions on visiting hours.
The ranking evaluated the world’s leading cities. It ranked them according to tourism, sustainability, economic performance, health, and safety criteria.
