More than 22,000 fans of rapper Pitbull set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald wigs in London’s Hyde Park. The musician himself joined in the recording.
The record was set on July 10 before Pitbull’s concert, which became the headliner of the BST Hyde Park festival. A total of 22,141 people wore silicone wigs that imitated baldness, as well as white shirts, black ties, and aviator sunglasses – the image associated with the performer.
During the ceremony of presenting the Guinness World Records certificate, Pitbull said:
“I don’t find words. Who would have thought that a first-generation Cuban would set and break records?”
Although the artist is bald, he also had to wear a special wig to be included in the record.
According to the official judge of the Guinness Book of Records, Will Munford, the record was not for the largest gathering of bald people, but for people wearing special bald wigs.
To confirm the result, the organizers involved about 400 volunteers who checked the participants at the entrance and on the festival grounds. In addition, drone footage was used to count, and the footage was analyzed by 42 special counters.
On the eve of the concert, the demand for bald wigs was so great that many stores ran out of them.
