Revolut Leads the European Neobank Market in Popularity

Revolut applies for a US banking license

The British neobank Revolut maintains its leading position in search query popularity across numerous European countries, including Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Malta, Norway, and Sweden, notwithstanding the absence of a British license.

Meanwhile, in Central and Eastern Europe, the market is characterized by regional differentiation: mBank dominates in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, while Hello bank! leads in Austria and Belgium. Other countries show preference for local neobanks, including Holvi in Finland, Nickel in France, ImaginBank in Spain, Knab in the Netherlands, Stripe in Switzerland, Lunar in Denmark, and N26 in Germany. In Ukraine, the most popular neobank is Monobank.

By the end of 2024, Revolut had acquired approximately 15 million new customers, increasing its total user base to 52.5 million, reflecting an annual growth rate of 38%. According to Euromoney, Revolut was named the Best Digital Bank in Europe in 2025. The company’s financial results for 2024 showed revenue increased by 72% to £3.1 billion. It is anticipated that Revolut’s market capitalization will reach $45 billion by 2026 following a secondary share offering, surpassing the capitalization of several traditional European banks.

Additionally, Revolut has announced its intention to continue operations in the Ukrainian market.
