Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling, who starred in the Barbie and Lalaland films, will play the lead role in the new Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Starfighter.
Variety reports that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and creative director Dave Filoni announced this at the annual Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo.
The 44-year-old actor appeared at the presentation, saying from the stage: “Power is a mysterious thing, and in this case, the power is in the fans. And all we can hope for is this: “May the fans be with us!”
It has also been announced that the filming of the new part of the movie franchise will start this fall. The release on the big screens is scheduled for May 28, 2027, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the saga’s first film — “Star Wars. Episode IV: A New Hope.” Shawn Levy will direct the film, and the rest of the cast has not yet been named.
