Ryanair to use AI for crew scheduling and aircraft maintenance

Ryanair to introduce a fine of up to 70 euros for non-compliance with baggage rules

Ryanair plans to use artificial intelligence more widely in its work. The airline has signed a five-year agreement with Google, within which it will implement Gemini tools and DeepMind models for crew scheduling, aircraft maintenance and operational decisions.

Ryanair is the largest airline in Europe by passenger numbers. As part of the partnership, about 35 thousand of its employees will have access to Google Workspace and Google Cloud services.

The company expects new technologies to help it expand its operations. By 2034, Ryanair plans to carry 300 million passengers a year.

The agreement with Google Cloud does not mean that Ryanair will abandon other cloud services. The airline already uses Amazon Web Services and plans to work with both platforms in the future. This approach should reduce dependence on a single supplier and the risk of problems in the event of technological failures.

A separate role in the airline’s work will be assigned to Gemini Enterprise. With the help of this platform, Ryanair plans to create its own AI agents to automate some operational decisions. They will also be used to draw up crew schedules and reduce disruptions to the carrier’s work.

In addition, Ryanair will use Google DeepMind developments, in particular the AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext models. They will help in fleet management and aircraft maintenance planning.

The financial terms of the five-year agreement were not disclosed by the company.
