On Christmas Day, December 25, Santa Claus began his flight worldwide. Flightradar and the U.S. Air and Space Defense Command (NORAD) are monitoring his flight.
On Flightradar, the sled with the call sign R353DN053 (Merry Christmas) and registration number HoHoHo is flying south of the California peninsula in Mexico.
NORAD has Santa flying to the uninhabited Palmyra Atoll. He has already distributed almost 8 million gifts.
The NORAD military command was the first to launch this tradition in 1955 when a well-known department store in Colorado mistakenly listed the phone number of the Continental Air Defense Command hotline in its advertisement. The ad encouraged children to call Santa. After that, the military decided to show the fictional route of the main Christmas hero every year.
And the Flightradar service started showing Santa’s route in 2017.
