Sony Pictures Television is working on a miniseries about the investigation of the case of American sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein. The main role will be played by Oscar-winning Laura Dern.
This is reported by Variety.
The series will be based on the book “Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story” by Julie K. Brown. She is a Miami Herald journalist who, in a series of articles in 2018, drew attention to Epstein and his crimes. Dern will play Brown in the series.
The official description of the series characterizes it as “an explosive story about an investigative journalist who exposes a secret plea agreement between Epstein and federal prosecutors. Drawing on Brown’s experience as a pioneering reporter for the Miami Herald, the book and miniseries chronicle her tireless, multi-year investigation that identified 80 victims, convinced key victims to come forward, and led to the arrests of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”
Sharon Hoffman, known for her screenplays for “Mrs. America” and “House of Cards,” is adapting the book. She will also serve as co-showrunner with Eileen Meyers.
