The significance of hair beauty is paramount in our society, playing a crucial role in shaping one’s external appearance and self-esteem. Thick, shiny hair is often seen as a symbol of health, care, and attractiveness. Not only do they lend individuality to one’s appearance, but they also exert a psychological impact on a person’s well-being. In an interview with treatmentologist Svetlana Nevmerzhytska, we explore the proper hair care practices and procedures to avoid at all costs.

What is “hair restoration,” and who might benefit from such procedures?

Hair damage and deterioration can occur at any age. When hair is severely damaged, it becomes challenging to manage, to the point where even simple touches can lead to breakage. This issue is particularly relevant for women with dyed blonde hair, often leaving the impression that the stylist either mixed up the dye or lacked experience. Such problems are frequently encountered among women who have moved to Europe.

However, there are restoration techniques that rescue even the most damaged hair, whether it’s from chemical treatments, frequent use of hot irons and curlers, or simply due to inherent hair weakness. Cold restoration procedures, targeting the internal strength of the hair, can effectively restore and strengthen it.

To achieve the perfect hair structure, there are techniques like Botox, keratin, and nanoplastics. However, many fear these procedures due to potential hair damage caused by inexperienced stylists. These procedures demand extensive knowledge and understanding to choose the appropriate restoration method.

It is crucial to approach such procedures consciously and with understanding, avoiding the simplistic approach of applying a hair treatment and straightening it with an iron. An unqualified approach can lead to hair damage. In 2008, I began delving into the field of hair care because it was not only a close concern but also an intriguing question for me, as I’ve always dreamed of having beautiful and healthy hair.

How did you start your career in the beauty and hair care industry?

It all began as a hobby. I spent two years in a very hot country, and naturally, it took a toll on my hair. When I returned to Ukraine, I embarked on the mission to rescue my own locks and became passionate about it. At that time, I was working for the city council, organizing large-scale events. I loved that job, and I was building a career in that direction. Simultaneously, I delved into learning how to care for hair. I have fine hair, Slavic type, and not all procedures and cosmetics suited me. The results were not long in coming. Everything I learned, I started applying not only on myself but also on my friends. At some point, I realized that I no longer wanted to be tied to an office, schedules, and wanted to be closely involved in hair reconstruction and modification.

So, I moved to Kyiv and opened my first studio. It was in the city center, near the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. There were no issues with the business because it’s a field that enjoys immense popularity and is relevant for all age groups. Hair care has become an integral part of the beauty and self-care ritual, emphasizing the importance of how hair can influence the overall perception of one’s personality. Bringing dreams of healthy and beautiful hair to life, like on magazine covers, is truly satisfying.

With the onset of the war in Ukraine, the female members of my family had to move to Germany. I started everything from scratch there. In reality, it’s a wonderful testament to the fact that I did everything right and chose a good profession. It provides the opportunity to stand on your own two feet anywhere in the world and become financially independent.

Tell us about the hair care techniques and methods you prefer, and why?

I’ve been working in this industry for 6 years now, and I can say that I have a wealth of knowledge. There are also numerous techniques. The key is to choose a restoration procedure based on the hair type, the degree of damage, and the client’s preferences. All three of these points must be taken into account without fail. Each case requires an individual approach. This includes both Cold Restoration and hot procedures. Botox, keratin, and nanoplastics – everything that genuinely helps save your hair and makes them magnificent and healthy.

What are the current global trends in hair care, and how do you incorporate them into your work?

Currently, hot procedures are the most popular, providing instant results. Cold hair restoration procedures have a cumulative effect, similar to vitamins. It is with these procedures that clients achieve the desired length and sometimes transform into real-life Rapunzels.

And, of course, the foundation is at-home hair care. It’s not only about the cosmetic products themselves but also about the proper hair washing, drying, and styling techniques if necessary. I teach all these aspects to my clients and share insights in my signature course.

Have there been situations where you refused to perform a certain procedure for a client?

Certainly. It happens all the time. A client comes in with burned and damaged hair, wanting to transform them into glossy perfection. In such cases, aggressive compounds and high temperatures are not advisable. The procedure may give the desired effect for about six months, making the hair look stunning. However, when the effect wears off, the hair will look even worse—dull, dry, and very brittle.

In such situations, I always suggest undergoing hair restoration procedures. Depending on the damage, the effect may be immediate after one procedure or may take more time. Sometimes, 10 procedures are required for full recovery.

I always prioritize quality, and if a client doesn’t want to restore their hair, I can recommend them to another professional.

What should one avoid doing with their hair?

Thermal processing is always detrimental to hair. Excessive heat from a hairdryer, curling iron, or flat iron can destroy the hair’s structure. Of course, there are celebrities and models who need to style their hair multiple times a day, and avoiding heat styling is not an option for them. In such cases, I recommend using thermal protection without fail. It may not provide 100% preservation of the structure, but it will still mitigate the effects.

Self-dyeing at home or chemical treatments should be avoided. A salon professional can select all the necessary products for you and fulfill your desires without causing harm to your hairstyle. Beautiful, healthy hair is our wealth, attractiveness, and strength.

What is your approach to creating unique hairstyles and styles for clients?

I always prioritize quality — it’s my main principle. I love my job, have confidence in my skills, and believe in the products I use. Not only that, but I stay up-to-date and constantly evolve, so my approach to each client is individual. Every woman’s desire is beautifully maintained, incredibly beautiful hair. However, this works only for healthy hair.

You’re also the author of a course where you share tips on hair care. Could you share a few secrets that can give hair a healthy and radiant look?

Currently, I have a substantial number of offline clients in Germany, all gained through my work. This allows me to achieve financial independence while residing in another country and operating at a higher level. Through my professional activities, I also cultivate meaningful connections.

This line of work brings not only clients and work partners into my life but genuine friends. I am delighted to have such close individuals who have become more than just colleagues; they are a support system in my life. This profession, for me, transcends being just a job.

There used to be expectations that one must complete college, obtain a master’s degree, or have a prestigious diploma for a successful career. However, my field offers the opportunity to quickly learn and start working without the need for years of extensive education and experience hunting.

Currently, I find myself at a new stage in life where I feel completely fulfilled. Nevertheless, my primary goal is tied to education. I want to share my experiences and skills with Ukrainians, inspiring them to choose this profession. I plan to conduct online training, ensuring it is as clear and comfortable as possible.

Offline, I will continue to serve clients and plan to hire women to collaborate with me. My aim is to encourage as many Ukrainians as possible to enter this profession, helping them earn good money and derive satisfaction from their work. I sincerely wish that individuals, much like myself, discover joy and self-confidence through this profession.

What have been your most significant projects or endeavors, and why were they particularly meaningful to you?

My life itself is a project that I consider the most successful. I actively pursue growth in various directions, aiming for new achievements and constant development.

A pivotal moment in my life was the launch of my online project. Working in offline education was one level, but initiating an online project marked a substantial transition for me. This experience allowed me to expand my reach and provide new opportunities for those seeking knowledge in an online format.

Beyond the professional realm, a crucial goal in my life is building a family. This aspect gives me additional strength and inspiration to pursue my goals.

The current events unfolding in my native Ukraine deeply affect me. I am profoundly connected to Ukraine and actively participate in charitable projects aimed at assisting my homeland. It’s not just a commitment; it’s a source of strength that fuels my desire to make the world a better place. My dream is for our people to live in peace and safety.

Cold Hair Restoration

This procedure contributes to the restoration of the water-lipid balance and keratin, ensuring that the locks are soft, silky, and healthy. The results are immediately noticeable, with hair shining, becoming elastic, glossy, and smooth.

The method is based on the principle of reconstructing the hair structure without coloring, heating, or chemical perming. Cold exposure to the hair structure significantly enhances their appearance and protects them from overheating.

During the procedure, the hair structure is aligned, considered a key outcome of the service, leaving the hair smooth and silky-soft. The nourishing substances help restore the keratin cones in the hair bulbs, promoting healthy hair growth.

Hair Botox

This procedure is aimed at visually restoring (externally strengthening and moisturizing) the hair. It got its name thanks to the use of botulinum toxin, which is added to a special mask or serum applied to the hair.

Hair Botox may also include other active ingredients such as keratin, hyaluronic acid, amino acids, and vitamins, which help moisturize, nourish, and repair damaged hair.

Botox can be performed to straighten curly hair if desired. After the procedure, the hair becomes more structured, frizz is smoothed, and styling strands becomes easier.

Hair Nanoplasty

A revolutionary straightening and hair restoration treatment. The formula is organic, making it safe for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and individuals with allergies. The procedure is completely free of sharp smoke and odor. Suitable for all hair types, but not recommended for bleached and damaged hair.

The process involves applying a special gel-like substance to clean, sometimes slightly damp hair, washing and drying the strands, and finally, hot straightening. Afterward, the strands become smooth, without excess frizz and curls, making them easier to style and comb.

The primary active component in Nanoplasty products is amino acids. These formulations also include other natural ingredients such as keratin, collagen, wheat proteins, making them safe for pregnant and nursing women. Nanoplasty as a care procedure is not recommended only if you want to maintain natural curls.
