Forbes magazine has compiled an annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest female musicians. American singer Taylor Swift topped the list, beating Rihanna. Her net worth was estimated at $1.6 billion, while Rihanna’s was $200 million less.
Swift became the first performer in the billionaire ranking solely because of her music career. Unlike Rihanna, who has her own cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, and lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty, Taylor has no other business and earns only from music and her performances.
Last year, Swift reportedly earned $100 million in royalties from Spotify alone. And the wealthiest male musician is rapper Jay-Z, whose net worth is $2.5 billion.
The top five richest female singers also include Selena Gomez, with a fortune of $1.3 billion; Madonna, with $850 million; and Beyoncé, with $760 million.
