Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Tesla Model Y electric car drove from the company’s factory near Austin to the customer’s home on its own. This was another step by the company in demonstrating its progress in autonomous driving, according to Bloomberg.
In his post on X, Musk announced the autonomous delivery of a Tesla Model Y from the factory to a customer’s home, noting that the delivery took place through the city and included highway driving. According to Musk, there was no one in the car, and it was not remotely controlled.
Although the post did not include any videos or images, Musk promised that a video of the event would be available soon. Tesla’s head of artificial intelligence and autopilot, Ashok Ellusswamy, added that the car reached a top speed of 72 miles per hour (about 116 km/h).
This delivery took place one day earlier than Musk’s planned date of June 28, which coincides with his 54th birthday.
