Tesla sales in France and Denmark fall for the fourth month in a row

Tesla sales in France fell for the 3rd month in a row in March

Reuters reports that Tesla’s April sales in France and Denmark fell for the fourth consecutive month. The data released on Thursday evidence this.

Elon Musk’s electric car brand continues to struggle as Europeans buy more Chinese cars and some protest his political views.

According to data from French automaker PFA, sales in France fell 59.4% year-on-year to 863 vehicles last month. This was a bigger drop than the 36% drop in March. Since the beginning of the year, Tesla’s sales in France have been down 43.9% in a market that has shrunk by 7.3%.

According to the data, the total number of new car registrations in France in April was down 5.64% year-on-year to 138,694 vehicles.

According to Mobility Denmark registration data, sales of new Tesla cars in Denmark fell 67.2% year-on-year to 180 units last month, down from 65.6% in March. Tesla faces a number of challenges in Europe. Its model lineup is small and outdated, while traditional automaker competitors and new Chinese market entrants are launching new and often cheaper electric vehicles.

Musk’s support of far-right policies in Europe has led to protests against the billionaire CEO and the company and vandalism of its showrooms and charging stations across the US and Europe.

Tesla’s European sales fell by 28.2% in March.
