The Devil Wears Prada 2 grossed $676 million worldwide, helping the franchise cross the $1 billion mark. Combined with the first film’s $326 million, the two films’ gross has surpassed $1 billion, not adjusted for inflation.
This is one of the few times a two-film franchise has achieved such a feat, especially in the post-COVID-19 film industry.
Disney, which spent an estimated $100 million to produce the sequel and another $80 million on marketing, has one of the year’s most successful projects.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 was released in early May and debuted with $77 million in North America and $233 million worldwide in its opening weekend. That was nearly three times the opening gross of the original film.
The sequel has now grossed $217 million in North America and $458 million internationally.
The film is the fourth-highest-grossing release of the year domestically, the third-highest in the international box office, and the fourth-highest in the worldwide box office.
