After Donald Trump’s election as US president, many wealthy Americans are moving en masse to the elite areas of the UK, planning to spend the time of his term in the White House. The Daily Mail reported this.
The British property market is becoming increasingly attractive to American families actively investing in housing, renting, or buying houses in prestigious areas of London, notably Notting Hill, Kensington, and Hampstead.
Stephen Pattin, a specialist in lettings at Marsh & Parsons in the same Notting Hill, notes that the demand for renting and buying real estate has increased by 30-40%. According to him, about 60 requests come from US citizens every week.
“I noticed that I dealt with 10-15 Americans a week last year, usually one or two. “I’m currently actively working with 70 people, at least 50 of whom are Americans,” he said.
It is currently known that among the celebrities who have already moved to the United Kingdom are TV presenter Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi, designer Tom Ford, actor Ryan Gosling with his wife Eva Mendes, and actress America Ferrera.
As a reminder, actress Eva Longoria, her husband Jose Baston, and their 6-year-old son Santiago also left the States. The star currently lives in two countries: Spain and Mexico.
