Trump appoints Stallone, Gibson, and Voight as envoys to Hollywood

Donald Trump has appointed Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight as special envoys to Hollywood.

According to Trump, the actors’ task will be to restore Hollywood, which has faced serious challenges over the past four years. More and more film studios prefer to shoot films outside the US – in Europe, Canada, the UK, and Australia, where tax incentives are in place. In addition, the international box office of American films is falling.

China, for example, used to be a significant market for American films. Still, in recent years, it has been favoring locally produced films, according to the NYT reports.

Usually, US presidents appoint special envoys to other countries or regions that are important to the United States. These people coordinate the White House administration’s interaction with the authorities of these countries. Politico calls the position of “Hollywood special envoys” “unprecedented.”

Sylvester Stallone and Jon Voight have publicly supported Trump since his first campaign 2016. Mel Gibson spoke out to support the politician during the 2024 election race.
