Trump launches TrumpRx government portal for selling discounted drugs

Donald Trump announced the launch of the TrumpRx portal. This new government resource will allow citizens to order medicines directly through a special government website. Discounts on drugs were made possible thanks to direct negotiations between the White House and leading drug manufacturers. Giants such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, and Novo Nordisk have already agreed to participate in the program. This initiative is part of the president’s strategy to overcome the effects of inflation after the pandemic.

A feature of the service is that patients must pay in cash for orders received. Americans without health insurance will benefit the most from TrumpRx. Mehmet Oz and Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia presented the project together with the president. The Trump administration emphasizes the importance of making healthcare financially accessible to everyone.

The introduction of the TrumpRx portal is seen as a radical step toward changing the drug distribution system, as direct drug sales should significantly reduce intermediaries’ margins in the retail market. Analysts predict that this move will increase competition among US pharmacy chains.
