The rating of “100 most influential women in the world” from Forbes for the second year in a row was headed by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
First place is Ursula von der Leyen, who became the first woman to be president of the European Commission and is responsible for legislation affecting more than 450 million Europeans. This year, she was re-elected for the second time to this post. She is one of the biggest supporters of supporting Ukraine.
In second place, as in 2023, was Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank. She is also the first woman in this position. As the head of European monetary policy, Lagarde struggles “with a critical test – ensuring economic growth in the face of high inflation.”
This year’s top three also included George Meloni, an Italian politician and leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy party. She became Italy’s first female премʼєр minister, leading the government after winning the 2022 national election. Maloney introduced policies on issues such as migration and LGBTQ+ rights.
