Wrestler John Cena had his last fight and officially ended his career

Professional wrestler and American actor John Cena retired from WWE. He played his last match on Saturday night in Washington. The BBC writes about it.

The final match took place at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII at the Capital One Arena. Current WWE champion Gunter became Cena’s opponent.

According to sports media, ITR Wrestling, the match ended in Cena’s defeat. Gunther forced him to surrender after receiving a “sleeper,” which is a choking pain technique where a wrestler squeezes the opponent’s neck from behind, causing him to become dizzy or unconscious.

This fight ended John Cena’s 24-year career in professional wrestling. During this time, he became one of the most famous figures in WWE history.

Cena announced his decision to leave the ring back in July 2024. He explained this by the state of health and the fact that his body can no longer withstand such loads as before. In May, he spoke openly about his battle with skin cancer for the first time.

Despite the end of his career as a wrestler, Cena will remain associated with WWE – he will serve as an ambassador for the organization for another five years.
