Meta is testing a new paid subscription for Instagram called Instagram Plus, which provides access to additional features.
This is a separate level of service focused primarily on expanding Instagram Stories capabilities. In particular, subscribers will be able to view other people’s Stories in hidden mode, without them appearing in the viewing list.
In addition, the new subscription provides advanced analytics for their own publications. Users will receive data on the exact number of Stories reviews, as well as the ability to increase their display period to 48 hours instead of the standard 24.
Among other features is the ability to create an unlimited number of your own audience lists, expanding on the current “Close Friends” format that allows only one list. The paid package also includes animated Superlikes and the ability to highlight one Story each week to increase its visibility.
Instagram Plus is currently in beta testing in select countries, including Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines.
The subscription cost is expected to vary by region, but preliminary data suggests a price of around $1-2 per month.
The company emphasizes that Instagram Plus is not related to Meta Verified, which focuses on account verification and protection against fake accounts. It is a separate product with a different functional purpose.
Meta representatives also note that subscription testing is ongoing and that the basic features of Instagram will remain free for all users.
