According to new data from analysts, Apple is preparing to take the championship title already in 2025. The key driver of this historic shift was the success of the latest iPhone 17 line, which is breaking sales records even in an unstable economy. This is reported by Business Insider with reference to the Counterpoint Research report.
The report predicts that by the end of 2025, Apple will become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. This will happen for the first time since 2011 – a time when the market looked completely different, and the primary competitors were still Nokia and BlackBerry.
The mathematics of leadership looks like this:
- Apple: expected to sell 243 million devices (an increase of 3.3% compared to the competitor).
- Samsung: forecasted sales at 235 million units.
Overall, iPhone shipments in 2025 will grow by 10% compared to the previous year, which is twice Samsung’s growth rate.
The main catalyst for success was the iPhone 17 series. The statistics of the first days of sales are impressive: the novelty was bought 14% more actively than the previous iPhone 16 model over the same period.
Despite people becoming more frugal, Tim Cook expects the final quarter of 2025 to be the best in the company’s history. In October, Apple already recorded double-digit growth in shipments in key markets – the US and China. The new iPhone also topped the sales rankings in Germany and the UK.
