A week before the Oscars, another important event in the world of cinema, the Berlin International Film Festival, has ended. Although this year’s Ukrainian films were not awarded, some foreign films still managed to win the coveted prize.
Thus, the honorary Golden Bear was awarded to Dag Johan Heigerud’s Norwegian film The Dream. The film is part of a trilogy that includes the previous two, Sex and Love, which debuted at the Venice and Cannes film festivals last year.
The jury’s grand prize was awarded to the science fiction film The Blue Trail by Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro. The story tells of a 77-year-old woman who refuses to move to a nursing home and embarks on a journey through the Amazon forest.
The Message by Ivan Fand was awarded the Jury Prize. The Silver Bear for Best Director was awarded to Chinese director Huo Meng for his film Living on the Land, which shows the life of an ordinary family in a village in the 80s.
Australian actress Rose Byrne won the prize for Best Actress for her performance in If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You. Andrew Scott won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Blue Moon.
The award for Best Screenplay went to Romanian film director and screenwriter Radu Judet for his work on the film Continental 25.
