American comedian and television host Conan O’Brien will once again take on the role of Master of Ceremonies for the Oscars, marking his third consecutive year in this capacity. The 99th Oscars will be held on March 14, 2027, and broadcast live on ABC and Hulu. Returning to collaborate on the event are producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan, who have led the organization of the ceremony for the past three years. Meanwhile, Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney will continue working on the show for the third consecutive year, with Sweeney once again joining the event’s writing team.
Conan O’Brien commented: “Inside me lives a little bearded Viking who has been there since I was ten years old. When this Viking decides on something — whether it’s replacing David Letterman without prior experience, skiing down a challenging slope that I shouldn’t have attempted, or hosting the Oscars — that’s precisely what happens.”
It is noted that the 99th Oscars will be among the final ceremonies broadcast on ABC and Hulu, as, starting with the 101st event in 2029, rights will transfer to YouTube. Additionally, the 2027 ceremony is planned to be held at the Dolby Theatre, one of the remaining events at this venue before the anticipated move to the Peacock Theater commencing in 2029.
Moreover, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has updated the Oscars’ rules to establish clear requirements for the use of artificial intelligence: actors’ award eligibility is restricted to performances delivered by humans acknowledged in official credits, and script awards are limited to texts solely authored by people.
