After Donald Trump took the oath of office and officially became the 47th President of the United States, he went to the Presidential Room in the US Congress for a ceremony to sign the first executive orders and appointments to positions in his administration.
The new President and first lady then attended three inaugural balls. First, they participated at the Liberty Ball, where Trump was scheduled to speak. Then, the presidential couple went to the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball. The final event was the Donor Ball.
For several events, the US First Lady chose a dress with geometric black trim by Hervé Pierre, Melania’s longtime style consultant.

In 2017, he had already created a look for Melania. Now, Pierre became the fourth designer to design an inaugural evening gown for the same first lady twice. Previously, Nettie Rosencrans dressed Mamie Eisenhower in 1953 and 1957, James Galanos dressed Nancy Reagan in 1985 and 1989, and Jason Wu dressed Michelle Obama in 2011 and 2015.

Melania’s look was completed by white shoes and a wide black choker with a diamond brooch designed by Harry Winston in 1955.
Donald Trump, in turn, wore a classic black suit and white shirt, complemented by a black bow tie.
