France is considering a ban on the Shein marketplace over child-like sex dolls

The French government has said it may ban online marketplace Shein from operating in the country. Prosecutors have previously launched an investigation into the sale of child-like sex dolls there, the Financial Times reports.

The French government said on November 5 that it was “initiating the suspension of Shein for the time necessary for the platform to demonstrate to the authorities that all its content finally complies with our laws and regulations.” It added that ministers would submit a first report on their work within 48 hours.

The French authorities have also launched investigations into three other online platforms — Temu, Wish, and AliExpress. There, as on Shein, ads for the sale of child-like sex dolls were found. The dolls were sold by third-party sellers, not the platforms themselves.
