Robert Duvall, the man who played the most famous mafia advisor and tough colonel of the Vietnam War, died peacefully in Virginia at the age of 96. The sad news was confirmed by his wife, Luciana, through the agency’s representatives.
Duvall’s creative path began with a modest but iconic role as Boo Radley in the film To Kill a Mockingbird (1962). However, the real springboard to world recognition was the image of Tom Hagen, a lawyer and advisor to the Corleone family in the first two parts of The Godfather.
And the actor received the coveted Oscar statuette in 1983 for his role as a country singer in the drama Tender Mercy, in which he performed all the vocals himself.
Robert Duvall was not only an actor but also a successful director and screenwriter.
