48-year-old Huma Abedin, former deputy chair of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, married 39-year-old Alex Soros, son of renowned investor George Soros. The ceremony took place at a $14.5 million estate in Southampton.
The wedding consisted of two “parts”: a Muslim ceremony in honor of the bride and a Jewish ceremony in honor of the groom. The ceremony was attended by the most influential relatives and friends, including Jimmy Fallon, Rory Gates and his father Bill Gates, Kamala Harris, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, George and Amal Clooney, Diane von Furstenberg with her husband, media mogul Barry Diller, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue.
Thanks to Wintour, the magazine published a photo report of Huma trying on wedding dresses. According to media reports, Clinton insisted on holding the wedding because she decided her protégé deserved a lavish celebration.
The bride wore a Givenchy dress for her first look and an Erdem dress for her second. Audrey Hepburn inspired Huma Abedin for her first look and Grace Kelly for her second.
Guests enjoyed angel hair pasta with truffles, wagyu beef steaks, and grilled shrimp. The band Boyz II Men, popular in the 1990s, was invited to provide musical accompaniment.
