The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, took first place in the ranking of the most comfortable cities to live in for 2025, compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the analytical division of the British magazine The Economist.
This year, Copenhagen ended the Austrian capital Vienna’s three-year reign at the top. The Danish capital received a maximum score of 100 points for stability, education, and infrastructure. Thanks to this, it rose from second place to become the best city in the world to live in.
Here are the ten most comfortable cities in the world:
1. Copenhagen, Denmark
2. Vienna, Austria
2. Zurich, Switzerland
4. Melbourne, Australia
5. Geneva, Switzerland
6. Sydney, Australia
7. Osaka, Japan
7. Auckland, New Zealand
9. Adelaide, Australia
10. Vancouver, Canada
The EIU index evaluates 173 cities based on 30 criteria grouped into five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure. The overall average score in the ranking remained at last year’s level — 76.1 out of 100. However, this year’s results show a further decline in global stability due to increased geopolitical conflicts and social unrest.
