Netflix has officially launched a reality show based on the legendary board game Monopoly. The streaming service has already opened casting for participants, and the winner is promised a multi-million dollar cash prize.
Production will be handled by Studio Lambert, known for the reality show “Traitors”. She will create the project together with Hasbro Entertainment.
The show will feature 12 contestants who will start the game under the same conditions. They will enter a large-scale, realistic version of the city of Monopoly, specially built for filming.
According to the rules, players will have to negotiate, make profitable deals, exchange assets, and rely on dice rolls to stay in the game. The main goal is to accumulate the most capital without losing everything during the game.
Netflix notes that the decision to launch the project was significantly influenced by the success of the mobile game Monopoly Go!, which has become one of the most popular applications in the world. The high level of player activity convinced the company to invest in a television adaptation of the board game.
The world premiere of the reality show “Monopoly” will take place on Netflix in 2027.
