The sequel to the iconic film “The Devil Wears Prada” has made a successful debut in global cinemas, amassing $233.6 million during its opening weekend. A significant portion of this sum came from international markets, which generated $156.6 million. In comparison, the film earned $77 million domestically in the United States, surpassing analysts’ initial forecasts of approximately $180 million in global revenue at launch.
The production budget is estimated at around $100 million, with a considerable portion allocated to reassemble the original cast, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Additionally, the project brought back key members of the creative team from the first installment, including director David Frankel.
The film continues Andy Sachs’s storyline as she reenters the world of fashion, rejoining the Runway editorial team and facing the demands and dynamics of the industry once more.
The original 2006 film grossed $326 million worldwide during its theatrical run. The new sequel, even in its initial days, has nearly matched these figures, showcasing enduring audience interest in the franchise.
Based on the weekend’s results, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” secured the fourth-highest domestic box office earnings among films released in 2026, trailing behind “Michael” ($97.5 million), “Super Mario: Galaxy Movie” ($131 million), and “Project Ave Maria” ($80 million).
