Tom Cruise will receive an honorary Oscar for his career achievements in cinema. The award ceremony will occur at the 16th Governors Awards on November 16, 2025.
“Tom Cruise’s absolute dedication to our film community, the cinema experience, and the work of stunt performers has always inspired us,” said Janet Young, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in an official statement.
In addition to Cruise, actress and choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Winn Thomas will also receive honorary Oscars. Singer and actress Dolly Parton will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
The Honorary Oscar is not part of the competition program. It is awarded for outstanding achievements in the film industry and contributions to its development. This award recognizes Cruise’s influence not only as an actor but also as a producer who supports theatrical releases and large-scale Hollywood projects.
