American-Dominican actress Zoe Saldana has set a new record at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing actress of all time. The total box office of the star’s films has reached $15.47 billion, according to The Numbers.
The decisive factor was the release of “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” This film by James Cameron, released at the end of last year, has already grossed more than $1.23 billion at the box office and helped Saldana overtake the previous leader in the ratings – Scarlett Johansson.
In addition, Zoe became the first actress to star in three of the highest-grossing films in cinema history at once: “Avatar” (2009), its sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). And last year, Saldana won an Oscar for best supporting actress in the Netflix crime musical Emilia Pérez.
Other franchises also played a significant role in the record. For example, the celebrity’s success was also brought by the role of Gamora from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the Avengers films.
