The animated film “Zootopia 2” – the sequel to Disney’s animated hit – collected $556 million in its first weekend at the global box office. This is reported by Variety.
Thus, in the domestic box office in the United States, “Zootopia 2” collected $156 million at 4,000 venues since November 26, $96.8 million of which was collected during the extended Thanksgiving weekend. According to Variety, such figures became the second largest start on Thanksgiving Day in the history of the country’s box office, losing to “Moana 2”, which collected $225 million in 2024 over a five-day weekend.
The remaining $400 million in fees “Zootopia 2” earned at the international box office, $272 million of which fell to China. With a worldwide gross of $556 million, “Zootopia” had the fourth-highest opening weekend in film history. It was also the highest-grossing animated film in history, according to ABC News.
The first “Zootopia” film was released in March 2016 and was a hit, grossing $341 million domestically and $1.02 billion worldwide.
